This section is not intended to be a review of existing CDs. Good critics have done this already, and are experts on the subject. I wish just to draw your attention to particular works and interpretations. |

The Piano Trio opus 63 available at last! |
Trio Osiris: Peter Brunt, violin; Larissa Groeneveld, cello; Ellen Corver, piano. |
Piano trio opus 63 (and piano trio opus
1 no. 3). Opus 63 was "the unobtainable work" of Beethoven. Never recorded until this day, it is a warm performance, accomplished by the Trio Osiris, which we now offer you. If the authenticity of the Piano Trio, adaptation of the string quartet opus 4, is opened for discussion, it is a forgotten fact explained in the discography, that no existing source indicates that Beethoven ever disowned the work. Form your own opinion, and complete your disc collection with the unpublished work! |

The two trios for clarinet by Ludwig van Beethoven |
Florent Héau, clarinet Jérôme Ducros, piano Henri Demarquette, cello Zig-Zag Territoire - 2004 |
This CD collects the two trios for clarinet of Ludwig van Beethoven: the trio opus 11, composed in 1797, and the trio opus 38, composed in 1803. The last is an arrangement, made by the composer himself, of the Septet opus 20. The three soloists are dazzling in their delicacy and nuances. The musicality of their interpretation is consistant with Beethoven's great quality. A big bravo to three great artists and also thanks to the Société Générale which discovered these remarkable talents and who, thanks to their musical patronage, allow us to share in this musical moment. |
