After Fantasia, created in 1940, Disney followed their musical success with Fantasia 2000.

The aim of these animated films is to represent the images which the music conjures up, and which the audience can relate to.

In Fantasia, the whole of Beethoven's sixth symphony is interpreted. The story begins on Mount Olympus. There we meet winged horses, mischievous cherubs, Dionysos and the wine festival, and the amusements of Zeus: throwing lightening.

The music and images are perfectly in harmony

Just after the beginning, Fantasia 2000 presents the first movement of Beethoven's fifth symphony.

The music illustrates the battle between Good (shown by peaceful, colourful butterflies), and Bad (a hoard of black, aggressive butterflies).
