The statue of the young Beethoven in Genoa, Italy |
During the festivals “Genua, capital of culture 2005”, our town is to hold another bit of culture: the new Gallery of Modern Art was reconstructed in the area of the Nervi zone, in particular in the Villa Saluzzo Serra. Nervi, the beautiful tourist village, part of the Parish of Genua, is the ideal seat for artistic works of the end of the 19 th and beginning of the 20 th century. Among their number, the statue by Romanelli, in the first piece of the museum, is a result of a choice which appears to have been carried out on rigorous aesthetic criteria. The palm trees, the splendid decorations of the villas of the museum, the parks which maintain in tact the air of “turn of the century” culture, and the statue of Romanelli make this worth a thorough and moving visit to this part of our beautiful town. The Music Kiosk at Rapallo |
At Rapallo (in Liguria, south of Genova), a music kiosk (Piccolo chiosco della Musica) is decorated by the portraits of composers and some of their famous works: Verdi, Rossini, Bellini, Boito, Beethoven, Auber, Meyerbeer, Palestrina, Mozart, Berlioz et Gluck. Some medallions also present: Bach, Spontini, Pergolesi, Cimarosa, Bizet, Ponchielli, Gounod, Donizetti, Monteverdi, Händel, Haydn et Puccini. Most paintings are damaged, probably because of the saline atmosphere. Beethoven's portrait is also damaged... |
