Ludwig van Beethoven by Auguste Rodin |
Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) created numerous splendid statues. He also sculpted Beethoven in a medallion for the Royal School of Music of Brussels. This sculpture dates from 1874. It would seem that Rodin was inspired by another bust created by Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887)... |

Another bust of Ludwig van Beethoven in Belgium |
There exists also a bust of Beethoven, by Guglielmo Cacciani (1893-1969). Having become a qualified sculptor at the age of 19 he was invited to sculpt several pieces for the Verdi's monument at Parme: the Troubadour, the Force of Destiny, Alzira and Falstaff. Afetr the First World War he won a competition for his bust of Beethoven, for a conservatoire in Belgium. |
