At Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen is an exceptional marble bust of Beethoven. It was created by a french sculptor: Eugène Guillaume (1822-1905). Eugène Guillaume won the Great Prize of Rome in 1845,and then became a member of many academies during the 1860's,and was elected to the Académie Française in 1898. His works can be found all over France. In Paris: Invalides, jardin du Luxembourg, musée du Louvre, Opéra, Collège de France; in Marseille: prefecture and cathedral; also in Dijon, Avignon, etc. This bust is about 1 meter high... |
